The Twelve Apostles, The Great Ocean Road, Australia.

After visiting Cape Otway, we continued along the Great Ocean Road which moves inland.

We visited The Twelve Apostles which is located in the Port Campbell National Park. They are located 6km from Princetown.

The Twelve Apostles are a sight to behold, they are rock stacks formed of limestone. The rock stacks have eroded over time.

The cliffs of Moonlight Head are on a height above the crashing waves and surf. I definitely recommend walking down over the 380 steps from the top to the bottom to Wreck Beach and dipping your toes in the Southern Ocean.

Wreck Beach is named so after shipwrecks, one being Marie Gabrielle and you can see the anchor from the wreck embedded in the sand.

Another beach to visit is the Gibson Steps where you can do some fishing if it takes your fancy. It’s advisable to wear good footwear when walking down the steps! Make sure you dip your feet in the sea. It’s an order!

I found the Twelve Apostles awe inspiring when I visited in 2002 and more recently. There are ample walkways to get a good view too. It’s disabled friendly as well.

You can take a helicopter ride if you fancy.

One thing I would recommend is to visit when it is sunrise or sunset, it is so atmospheric and beautiful. Make sure you stay locally if you want to take advantage of this beautiful sight.

At sunset, you can see the penguins returning home from their day at sea! What more can you want!

The Twelve Apostles, a beautiful place, a superb feel of calm and showing nature’s beauty to one and all.

Having visited twice, I can’t wait to go back again to explore and feel the breeze on my face! Also to dip the toes in the ocean which I do wherever I go in the world!
