Cliveden House Hotel, Berkshire, England

Did you watch last year the Royal Wedding between Harry and Meghan ?

Did you watch when Megan and her Mum Doria arrive at Cliveden House the day before the wedding and then drove down the long drive towards Windsor I did, I was blown away and thought I better visit.

Last month, I visited Cliveden for an exclusive party with family, and wow, did it impress. Cliveden House hotel is a five star hotel located only twenty minutes away from Heathrow and is near to Windsor Castle.

We arrived via the hotel gates, security was paramount so we had to say what function we were part of. We drove along the long drive, past the impressive fountain along the drive which was impressive.

To the right of us was a gold clock tower which was beautiful, a walled garden below with beautiful flowers which hid the spa and swimming pool.

In front of us was the beautiful hotel building which had latin words written along the façade of the hotel.

Upon walking to the reception, we were met by convenial staff and a dark reception room with dark wood, tapestries hanging along the walls and armoury belonging to past knights perhaps? There was an air of luxury, the seats with lighting on the tables for guests having afternoon tea.

We walked to our private room which was The Tote Room, a secret library with a plethora of books to look at and a beautiful window framing the garden. We had appetisers and wine and caught up with friends and family. before heading into our private dining room.

We were in The Boudoir, here there was seating for 25 of us comfortably, a beautiful chandelier, fireplace and paintings followed by French doors what went out to the terrace and the garden beyond.

We had a beautiful lunch which comprised of truffle and pea risotto, halibut and pasta with a beautiful raspberry tart with frozen lychee sorbet accompanied with wine and mocktails. The staff were attentive and not intrusive.

Followed by the tasty lunch we were escorted to a private terrace where we had photos taken looking out towards the landscaped gardens and the river Thames where you can arrange a boat trip. The terrace had a wonderful vista and was breathtaking.

We walked down towards the reception, down a lovely staircase which had views of the residents bar.

Cliveden is a luxurious hotel with a wonderful feel to it. I would definitely recommend it for lunch and the afternoon tea looked good also.
