When I saw a photograph of this beautiful lake in a travel supplement in The Guardian Newspaper I knew I had to visit. I was struck by the beautiful scenery and had to go!
When were staying in Ljubljana we walked to the bus station and bought a coach ticket so we could get a feel for the countryside and see the beautiful scenery. We bought the ticket from the ticket kiosk. It cost us 6 euros for a single trip.
The journey took over 1 hour and a half, the scenery was breathtaking, lots of farming communities and churches, seeing the forests and the alpine mountains was a feast for the eyes.
When we arrived in Bled, we walked a few minutes to the lake and got a pletna which is a wooden gondola.
We were rowed across to Bled Island by a handsome rower, it cost us 14 euros.
We sat with tourists from all over the world taking in this beautiful vista!
The lapping of the water and the silence was out of this world. So peaceful and relaxing.
Once we arrived at Bled Island, the handsome rower said we had 30 minutes to walk around and meet back at the pletna.
We walked up the 99 steps where there was a Church tower you could pay 6 euros to enter, however, the sun was shining and we fancied some Slovenian Wine after our hike up.
We took some photographs and listened the to the lapping of the water and got the pletna back to the mainland.

We  found a fabulous restaurant  away from the touristy places!
It had beautiful views of the lake and the beach club and we had fresh tasty trout
I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. It is a fantastic place to sit, relax and the food was divine as was the local wine.
Lake Bled is a wonderful place to visit and relax , you can hire bikes too.
You can hire kayaks too. There are plenty of hotels and hostels to stay in as well as campsites.
After a big hike, I had some Bled Cake, very tasty it was too.
We then made our way home by getting the coach from the coach station. The coaches run every hour back to Ljubjlana. Be mindful as there is a bit of a queue to get on the coach, one the way back you pay the driver. In this case it was 10 euros as it only stopped once or twice on the way back to Ljubjlana.

You must visit Lake Bled, I am so glad I have and I look forward to exploring around the area next time I visit!
