Cork City is located in South west of Ireland. You can fly from London and arrive within an hour or so. There are taxis that take you into the city.
Cork city is easy to walk around and there is one place you must go to.
It is called The English Market, it is a smaller version of Borough Market in London, there are wonderful stalls selling local and fresh produce. It is the most famous covered market in Ireland. The quality of the food is outstanding.
They sell fresh meat, seafood, fruit, vegetables , spices, chocolate and a variety of things. I have eaten prawns from this market and cooked at a holiday home, and they the best prawns I have ever had!
After much walking around and trying samples, we went to a wonderful restaurant in the mezzanine of the English Market called The Farmgate Restaurantm www.farmgate.ie
I went there with a cousin of mine and had a some cake and local pale ale, it was divine. My cousin had a gluten free cake, it tasted lovely. There was a full and varied menu which changes daily and is dedicated to local produce.
There is also a noticeboard there with lots of things to see and do in Cork City in the restaurant going up the stairs. Have a look!
Cork city is full of cafes around every corner, but I recommend this cafe for lunch after you have been shopping.
