Spain, a scenic country with so much to offer. When I was in Seville, I decided to get a coach from Seville to Granada, it was very cheap and arrived three hours later in the centre of Granada.
A beautiful city with a lovely UNESCO site, the Alhambra. I have had the pleasure of visiting this jewel in the Andalusian crown a few times, each time I marvel at the Moorish architecture and vistas. The gardens were beautiful also.
I thoroughly recommend visiting the Alhambra, you can get a train from outside the Alhambra into the middle of the city and can walk along the cobbled streets and sample tapas and have some cava . It is hilly so please bear this in mind.
Thirty minutes from here by car is Albunuelas which is located in the Lecrin Valley which is a walker’s paradise. It is rural spain, the countryside and a car is advisable.
Albunuelas is a small village in the hills where no English is spoken, there are three small bars, a baker, a market is weekly. There are houses built into the hillside and there are lemon groves, orange groves, avocados and almond growing abundantly in campos ( small allotments privately owned)
My cousin has a home here which she rents out, for more details contact me. Here is one photograph of her first terrace, it sleeps six people comfortably.
Below is a photograph of our bounty which we had collected in one afternoon on a hilly walk to the whitewashed villages where we had a fantastic meal.
Nearby, there is a wonderful Bodega where we joined a tour learning how red wine is made and we took part in some tastings. The tour was mainly in Spanish but the tour guide was bilingual and made the tour super special for us.
The wine was of high standard the food in the restaurant was michelin standard and plentiful.
Here’s the view we had from the restaurant, as you can see the Sierra Nevada mountains are in the background,a ski destination as well.
We went to the mountain villages around an hour or so away via car, the photographs speak for themselves
Please contact me for further information regarding the above.
